On our last day in Hawaii, rather than get all sandy and have to pack wet towels, we went to the pool at the Hale Koa (pictured as seen from the elevator window), where there are lovely poolside attendants who give you towels.
We watched a young lady attempt to teach her gentleman friend how to swim the butterfly and backstroke, which was bad on many levels. Neither one had a good grasp of the butterfly, although what she was telling him about backstroke was correct. Although he didn't do what she said, so it was not helpful. Amusing, though. We also saw an aquacise class, which meant we got to listen to the accompanying music - oldies remixed with a loud, pounding beat. Somewhere, Bobby Darin is rolling over in his grave for what they did to Splish Splash.
From the pool, we went to our last meal in Hawaii, at one of the restaurants in the hotel. Tricia and Katy were very sad we had to leave:We still had time to kill before the rental car had to be returned, so we went to the National Memorial Cemetary of the Pacific, which was about 10 minutes from the hotel.
Apparently Tricia's great uncle is memorialized there. A very nice man at the visitor's center (pictured), who looked scarily like Wilford Brimley, helped us locate the memorial. It was on one of the walls along these steps. The view from the top of the steps:

From the front gate, there was a gorgeous view of Honolulu and the ocean.
By this time, the rental car had to go back, and we had to say goodbye to Hawaii. :-(
